EHarmony
Eharmony.com is one of today's largest dating websites. This dating site was created by Neil Clark Warren, who is a Christian and a "...passionate believer". Although the website does not allow g-a-y or l-e-s-b-i-a-n relations, Warren has stated on occassion that the reason is not because h-o-m-o-s-e-x-u-a-l relations are a sin and against God, but because he does not have experience working with those couples and such marriages are illegal in most states. Now, this alone wouldn't be reason enough for me to question Eharmony. The reason I question this site is because Warren continues on to say thing like "I have a deep desire for g-a-y-s and l-e-s-b-i-a-n-s to be matched well if they are going to be together".
Thats where I'd have to draw the line. Indifference towards h-o-m-o-s-e-x-u-a-l-i-t-y is one thing, we are to leave judgement to the Lord and after all, the website doesn't match such couples. But Warren has stated publically that he is interested in seeing these relationships work, which would have to be considered promoting. I can't recommend a site whos owner is interested in the success of sinful relationships that go against God's word and design. It would have been the right thing to mention that as a Christian man he is morally against such relationships when explaining in the interview why his site does not match g-a-y-s and l-e-s-b-i-a-n-s.
Eharmony's "Christian values" are also called into question due to their sponsorship of "S-e-x and the City", a show that all but glorifies f-o-r-n-i-c-a-t-i-o-n. The sponsorship is public and for a time was being openly announced before commercial breaks on the TBS network. This is the one that really got me, this is completely blatant. How could a man who considers himself a Christian man advertise on and sponsor a show that really seems to glorify sinful behavior. Totally unacceptable.
